It’s been a long time coming, but the (partial) re-opening of pubs and restaurants is just under a couple of weeks away.
The Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown has been arduous for everyone, and non-essential businesses have been hit particularly hard.
Some have closed never to re-open, and the impact on employment has been significant.
But in Wales those that have weathered the storm will be able to welcome people back later this month, outside at least for now, two weeks after conditions were eased in England.
It’s a frustrating further delay, but at least there is some light on the horizon.
Recruitment agency Arc Hospitality says there are now increasing numbers of opportunities available for people looking for work.
A spokesman said: “We’re excited to be able to offer candidates roles in hospitality as the economy reopens.
“From speaking to our current clients in Wales, they are expecting a busy summer season with lots of bar and waiting on roles on offer.
“We have begun recruitment for roles at major stadia, tourist attractions and events in Wales, receiving 241 Cardiff applicants in last week alone.
“It’s great to see an keen interest in event and hospitality work after such a long time off”.
