If you’re searching for a new job at the moment, you might have found it’s more difficult than usual as many businesses remain closed.

However, there are still companies looking to take on new staff and some don’t require any experience.

Here are some of the jobs you can apply for now in Wales:

Store assistant, Newport and Brecon

Aldi is taking on permanent store assistants at its Newport Spytty Road and Brecon stores.

You’ll do everything from checking off deliveries to dealing with enquiries to ensuring shelves are fully stocked.

According to the listing, “you’ll never find yourself bored and twiddling your thumbs on the till” and it also says there’s a “family feel” at the store.

The positions pay £9.40 an hour.

Barista, Barry

Starbucks is looking for a new barista to join its team in Barry.

The perfect candidate will need to be motivated, driven, resilient, flexible, positive and willing to go the extra mile for that perfect cup of coffee.

The company is also looking for someone who has one year of customer service experience and one year of experience working in hospitality – but this is preferred, not required.

The position pays between £6.25 and £8.72 an hour, and all staff get a 30% discount along with other freebies.

Student recruitment and support advisor, Cardiff

The Open University is looking for three “proactive, reliable and enthusiastic” people who can help ensure the smooth running of the student recruitment and support team by proving guidance to its students.

The university said it has seen significant growth recently and is expanding the team so it can continue to support its staff, students and visitors.

The position pays between £20,130 and £22,417 a year, and the university offers a range of benefits for its employees and their families.

KFC team member, Pontypool

Fast-food giant KFC is recruiting part-time team members for its restaurant in Pontypool.

Team members work as both front and middle of house. This means you would be the first person customers see when they arrive and the one making sure customers get the tastiest food possible.

The idea person for the job would be a “bright, spirited person who loves to get stuck in, ask questions and support the people around them”.

Artisan baker, Usk 

Morris’s of Usk Farm Shop is looking for an experienced artisan baker to work in its modern on-site bakery making a range of cakes and bread.

The position is full-time.

The company said it would offer an excellent remuneration package for the successful candidate.

Domino’s team member, Cardiff

Domino’s is looking for late-night team members. They will be trained in all areas from taking orders on the telephone to preparing pizza boxes, making sure customers meet a friendly face when they arrive and – of course – making the pizzas.

According to the ad, the company offers excellent training and support, free uniforms, a pension scheme, discounted food allowances and employee of the month schemes.

There is also the opportunity to progress up the career ladder.

The right candidate needs to be over the age of 18, available to work from 10pm onwards and be able to work until the store closes at 5am.

Apple specialist, Cardiff

Apple is one of the biggest tech brands in the world, and it’s looking for full-time, part-time and temporary staff for its Cardiff store.

As a specialist, you will be the person to greet customers when they come into the store and the one advising, selling and setting up their new devices.

Supermarket assistant, Monmouth 

Waitrose & Partners is taking on part-time supermarket assistants to work night shifts at its Monmouth store.

The role involves moving and replenishing stock and carrying out housekeeping activities. Employees may also be expected to work in any area of the branch to support the wider team when required.

Customer assistant, Colwyn Bay and Denbigh

Lidl is looking for new customer assistants for its stores in Colwyn Bay and Denbigh to do everything from setting up the bakery ready for the day to closing the store and preparing for the next.

The company says every day is different, so you won’t just be working deliveries or working on the till – you’ll be doing all of it and more.

The position pays between £9.30 and £10.50 an hour depending on experience.

Coffee barista, Cardiff and Penarth

Coffi Co is hiring for its Cardiff and Penarth cafés.

The family-run business has five shops across south Wales and prides itself in crafting and developing its coffee experiences.

A position is available for a part-time barista in Cardiff.

The right candidate will need at least one year’s experience in the customer service industry – ideally in speciality coffee – and must be able to work well in a team and be flexible, reliable and committed.

The position pays £8.72 an hour and benefits include complimentary hot drinks and 50% off all food and cold drinks, ongoing training and educational development initiatives and contributory pension scheme.

Tesco is hiring customer assistants for one of its Swansea supermarkets.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing a slick and speedy checkout experience, making sure customers can find what they need and making sure aisles are stocked and presentable.

Customer service advisor, Bridgend

Argos is looking for customer service advisors to join its team at its Bridgend store.

It has a number of roles for between six and 10 hours per week on a fixed-term contract for four weeks, working a variety of shifts either weekends or weekdays and weekends.

You must have a passion for customer service and good communication skills. Previous experience within a retail or hospitality environment is beneficial but not essential.

Personal shopper, Wrexham, Llanelli and Carmarthen

Tesco is advertising temporary personal shopper positions at its stores in Wrexham, Llanelli and Carmarthen.

You will be responsible for picking customers online orders and will need to be good at time management and take initiative to make decisions for customers.

Child support worker, Neath

Athena Care Group is looking for child support workers for its residential homes in the Neath area.

As a residential support worker, you will support children who have experienced trauma, neglect and abuse from trusted adults.

The company expects employees to have a nurturing and therapeutic approach to the care of children and prides itself on “building brighter futures for children and employees”.

The successful candidate would be working shift patterns on a rolling rota with 12.5-hour shifts.

All applicants must be over 21 years of age and hold a full manual drivers licence.

Gentle Touch Gardening is looking for a part-time employee to carry out tasks such as labouring, shovelling, carrying out the groundwork, mixing and general construction work.

The position is for part-time, morning work and it pays between £50 and £60 a day.

The ideal candidate needs at least five years of general labour experience.

As a cook, you will ensure residents are provided healthy, high-quality meals and will ensure a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen. You will also be responsible for directing and supervising the kitchen staff.

The ideal candidate needs to have one year of experience as a cool and a food hygiene certificate.

The successful candidate will need to undergo a DBS check.
